Start with the appliance, then specify the liner
Chimney relining establishes a suitable internal passage for the appliance and fuel being vented. Brown Chimney assesses Boston flues where an existing liner is damaged, its condition is uncertain or a new appliance changes the requirements. A liner needs to work as part of the complete venting system.
Selection considers diameter, height, bends, material suitability, connections and the required insulation. There is no single metal specification that fits every fuel and appliance. The proposed installation follows the liner listing, appliance instructions and applicable requirements for that arrangement.
In an older Boston building, the outer masonry can look intact while the flue inside needs further evaluation. Shared stacks also require clear identification of the flue being used. We establish those details before quoting or assuming the existing passage is ready for new equipment.
