About this model
Overview
The Deco Nano is Drolet's compact wood stove, built around a 1.55 cu ft EPA loading volume and rated up to 45,000 BTU/hr. It is the model to look at when the room is small, or when the space a full-size stove needs simply is not there.
Being small changes how it is run rather than how well it burns. It is EPA 2020 approved at 1.8 g/hr published particulate emissions, which is the cleanest figure of the five stoves here, but a 1.55 cu ft firebox takes 17-inch logs and gives up to five hours from a load rather than overnight.
Is this right for your home?
A small living room, a cabin, a finished basement or an addition of roughly 250 to 1,200 sq ft, where the stove is the main heat for that space rather than for the whole house.
Check before ordering
- The area you actually want heated, against the published 250 to 1,200 sq ft range.
- Floor protection and the clearances to walls and combustibles given in the model's manual.
- A route for the stove's own insulated chimney, up through the roof or out through a wall.
- Whether five hours from a load suits how you use the room.
Worth knowing
- Maximum log length is 17 inches, shorter than the 20 to 22 inches the larger stoves take — it affects how you buy and cut firewood.
- Published burn times and heating areas assume seasoned wood and a well-drawing chimney; both vary in practice.

Installation
A freestanding stove is a floor, clearance and chimney job rather than a masonry one. It stands on listed floor protection, keeps measured distances from walls and combustibles, and runs on its own insulated flue sized for the model.
Brown Chimney can look at the room, work out where the stove can legally sit and what the chimney route would involve, before anything is ordered.
Service availability depends on your location.
What to check before installation
What an assessment of this model would cover:
- Where the stove can stand once the manual's clearances to walls and combustibles are applied.
- The hearth pad or floor protection the model requires underneath it.
- A workable route and height for its own insulated chimney, and the draft that route will give.

Frequently asked questions
Is it big enough to be a real heat source?
For the area it is rated for, yes. Drolet publishes 250 to 1,200 sq ft and up to 45,000 BTU/hr, which suits a small living room, cabin or basement. It is not intended to heat a whole house.
How long will one load burn?
Up to five hours, per the manufacturer. A 1.55 cu ft firebox taking 17-inch logs will not hold an overnight fire; if that matters, one of the larger stoves in this category is the better fit.
How much clearance does it need?
Less than a full-size stove, but still a measured amount on every side plus floor protection underneath. The figures are published in the model's own manual and should be checked against the room before ordering.
