About this model

Overview

The Heritage is the traditional-looking stove in this selection: a cast iron framed door over a refractory brick lined firebox, in a body meant to read as a classic hearth appliance rather than a contemporary one.

Underneath, it is a 2.4 cu ft non-catalytic stove, EPA 2020 approved, rated up to 75,000 BTU/hr across 500 to 2,100 sq ft with an eight-hour maximum burn and 20-inch logs. What sets it apart from the similarly rated Escape 1800 is the cast iron door, the brick lining and a 100 CFM blower supplied as standard rather than as an accessory.

Is this right for your home?

A main living area of roughly 500 to 2,100 sq ft in a house where the stove should look traditional, and where moving heat out into the room with a fan matters.

Check before ordering

  • The heated area against the published 500 to 2,100 sq ft range.
  • Clearances and floor protection from the manual, as for any freestanding stove.
  • A route for the stove's own insulated chimney.
  • A power outlet within reach, since the blower is an electrical component.

Worth knowing

  • The 100 CFM blower is included, not optional — the one clear functional difference from the Escape 1800 at the same rated capacity.
  • The blower needs household power, so the fan stops in an outage even though the stove keeps burning and radiating.

Installation

Installation follows the same pattern as any freestanding stove — listed floor protection, measured clearances, and its own insulated chimney — with one addition: the blower needs a power outlet within reach of the stove's position.

Brown Chimney can confirm the clearances for the intended spot, the chimney route, and whether power is available where the stove would stand.

Service availability depends on your location.

What to check before installation

What an assessment of this model would cover:

  • Clearances to walls and combustibles at the intended position.
  • The hearth pad or floor protection the model requires.
  • Chimney route, height and resulting draft.
  • A power outlet in reach for the included blower.

Frequently asked questions

Is the blower really included?

Yes. Drolet lists a 100 CFM blower as part of this model rather than as an accessory. On several other stoves in this category the blower is an optional extra, so it is worth comparing on that basis.

Is it a cast iron stove?

The door is cast iron framed and the firebox is lined with refractory brick. Drolet does not publish the construction of the rest of the body, so the catalogue does not claim it either — ask Brown Chimney if that detail matters to you.

What happens to the fan in a power cut?

The fan stops, because it runs on household power. The stove itself keeps burning and radiating heat from its body, you just lose the forced circulation into the room until power returns.
